Starting October 3, 2016 Jørgen Jørgensen holds the office of the Acting Rector of the European Humanities University (EHU) in Vilnius. What are the major tasks undertaken by Acting Rector Jørgensen during these 7 months? What avenues is EHU leadership ready to proceed with? What is the opinion of international donors about EHU’s progress?


The search for a new Rector of the Vilnius-based European Humanities University (EHU) was initiated with a public announcement on November 22, 2016. An international search was conducted with the assistance of the Brussels-based Mercuri Urval executive recruiting firm and under the aegis of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).


On February 2 members of the United States-based “Friends of the European Humanities University, Inc.” held a meeting/telecon learn the status of the University’s operations in the Academic Year 2016/17, and to discuss how the Friends group might best support the EHU’s mission.


Deadline for submitting applications for the international search for the new Rector of the Vilnius-based European Humanities University (EHU) officially expired on January 17 12:00 CET. 


On January 12-13 European Humanities University (EHU) Governing Board (GB) in its new composition convened for the first meeting in Vilnius.
