Search Committee visits campus for continued stakeholder meetings and consideration of EHU rector candidates

The Search Committee of the EHU Governing Board returned to Vilnius on 30-31 January 2015 to continue talks with stakeholder groups and a broad range of members of the community concerning the choice of a new rector for EHU.

Search Committee members reviewed communications addressed to the Governing Board by members of the EHU community, held a further round of consultations with the elected representatives of the EHU Senate and Students Union, and met as well with students, members of the faculty and the administration, and parents of some current EHU students, who had requested to share their views with the committee either in person or by skype.

On Friday, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA), H.E. Linas Linkevičius and other senior Ministry representatives, hosted a round-table discussion, dedicated to EHU and an update on the Search. The Lithuanian MFA represents not only EHU’s host government, but also serves as a major donor for the University. The meeting was attended by a sizeable group of EHU representatives, including GB Chair, members of the Governing Board, the President of EHU, the Interim Rector, representatives of the EHU Senate, Students Union, and university administration.

The statement of the Lithuanian MFA is available here.

University and Board leaders also held two separate meetings with senior members of the Seimas, legislators who are well acquainted with the history of the institution and strongly supportive of its present-day mission.

The EHU Rector Search is now entering its final phase and an announcement of its outcome is expected by March 1, 2015. Questions about the search or requests for information may be addressed to the Secretary of the Search Committee, Christine Vivas: cvivas @ americancouncils.org.
