Call for Participation: International Research Conference “Baltic-Black Sea Intermarum: Paradigms of regional development and transformations of law"

European Humanities University (EHU) in cooperation with the Center for Advanced Studies and Education (CASE) invites for participation in the international research conference Baltic-Black Sea Intermarum: Paradigms of regional development and transformations of law which will take place on March 29-30, 2012 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The main topics of the conference:

1.Integration, transnational and transborder interactions in Baltic-Black Sea region

  • International relations and policy in Baltic-Black Sea region
  • Economic and regional politics in the states of the Baltic-Black Sea region
  • Security issues of energy supply in the Baltic-Black Sea region.
  • “Cosmopolitan Europe”: memory policy, migratory processes and transformation of citizenship in the states of Intermarum.


2.Constitutional Order, Human Rights and Liberty in the Intermarum

  • History of the constitutionalism in the Intermarum.
  • National Constitutional Order, European Law and International Law.
  • Supremacy of the Constitution. Dysfunctions of Constitutional norms.
  • Development of the Comparative Constitutionalism in the Intermarum
  • Features of the Democracy and Rule of Law in the Intermarum.
  • Implementation of constitutional principles and Human Rights in the legal system.
  • Comparative analysis of civil liberties in the constitutional perspective (Intermarum).

Terms and Conditions

No registration fee

The Conference organizers will cover the participants’ accommodation and meals costs.

The European Humanities University will assist the participants in obtaining their visas. 

Conference Program

The Conference program will consist of plenary and parallel sessions, running from March 29, 2012 at 9:00am. Please plan your trip so that you arrive in Vilnius on March 28, 2012 and leave on April1, 2012.
